Composition of Metal Plastic

WEICON Plastic Metals are two-component epoxy resin based. They are supplied in packages containing resin and reagent in the correct mixing ratio. Depending on the type, the resin is filled with steel or aluminium or in some cases with a mineral component (except for the MS 1000 Castable Resin). The different type of reagent determines the viscosity and polymerisation behaviour of each type.

Plastic metal: characteristics

After mixing the two components, WEICON Plastic Metal hardens at room temperature and becomes metal-like, adhering to almost all types of surfaces. The curing time depends on the type. Unlike polyester resin, the material has no shrinkage while it hardens. The hardened material can be machined, i.e:

WEICON offers a very high range of pasty, liquid or brushable types with high temperature and abrasion resistance. All types also have excellent resistance to aggressive agents.

Plastic Metal: Applications

Many different materials can be durably bonded to themselves and to each other, such as:

In industrial workshops and maintenance departments, WEICON Plastic Metal is the ideal product for:

WEICON Plastic Metal is used in production to make moulds and models, in particular

WEICON Plastic Metal is ideal for general maintenance work and permanent repairs instead of expensive spare parts.

Plastic Metal: Instructions for Use

Please refer to the instruction sheet included in each package for detailed information on:

Plastic Metal: Polymerisation and Treatment

Depending on the type, WEICON Plastic Metals can be machined or removed from the mould after 2 hours up to a maximum of 24 hours at room temperature.

Final polymerisation is reached for all types after 48 hours at room temperature.*

In cold environments, curing can be accelerated with heat, max. 40°C (lamps, electric blankets, hot fan). Do not use an open flame (gas burners or oil lamps) to avoid overheating and possible deformation.

Plastic Metal: Warehousing

WEICON Plastic Metals must be stored at room temperature (max. 25°C) in a dry place. Sealed containers may be stored for a maximum of 24 months after delivery at temperatures between +18°C and +25°C (the Pasty Epoxy Resin max 36 months).

Opened containers must be used within 6 months.

Plastic metal: Warnings

When using WEICON Plastic Metals, pay attention to the physical, toxicological and ecological data and instructions in the safety data sheets, which are available on request.
